Add your first site in 5 minutes
#Add a site
- Open Sites and click Add site; new users can also start from the onboarding entry on Overview.
- Name: pick a name you'll recognize, like "Main site".
- URL: the full URL, e.g.
https://www.example.com/. - Leave the rest at their defaults and click Save.
After saving you'll be back at the site list, where the state is first Not checked; once the first check finishes it becomes Up or Incident. To verify immediately, use the site's Check now action.
#What the defaults are
- Check interval: 5 minutes by default (plans offer 1–10 minute tiers; change it in the site form).
- Timeout: no response within 15 seconds counts as a failure.
- Consecutive failures: 3 failures in a row before an incident is declared and alerts sent — so a single bit of flapping won't wake you up.
- Rule set: HTTP 200 plus no error keywords and no framework error page.
These defaults live under System settings in the Monitoring defaults section and apply to sites created afterwards.
Description
Addresses you can't submit (internal IPs, reserved ranges) are stopped by the admission rules, with the reason shown right on the form. To monitor an internal network see Target blocked from monitoring.
